The election was won by the incumbent Muhamadu Buhari of All Progressives Congress (APC) which was described as “sham” by Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s candidate in the election.

The election result was rejected by the party, which it said was militarised and the result fraught with irregularities.

While addressing the crowd surrounded by security personnel, the party chairman Uche Secondus said,”we have never seen in any part of the world where military are involved in the exercise of election, it is purely a civilian exercise.”

He decried the involvement of the military by INEC as if there was war.
